I am David Carson and I founded Sammy's Mission with my wife, Mandi. Just like Sammy, I was in active addiction for many years. I was a hopeless addict and only by the grace of God I was introduced to the Miracle Hill Overcomers Program in 2017. While I was in the treatment program, I met Jesus and have developed a real love relationship with Him and my life has been changed forever. I continually want to give back what was freely given to me; hope. I want to serve and help those that are in need like I once was. God has laid it upon Mandi's and my heart to launch this mission to help others in active addiction.
David and Mandi Carson
It's difficult to describe what David Carson has done for me in a few sentences. However, I can describe it in one word. That word is love. He's been like a brother to me. When I was hungry he fed me, when I was naked he clothed me. And for that I am forever grateful. I thank the Lord that He brought David into my life.
David never gave up on me, even when others did. He persisted! He would text me once a week and tell me that when I was ready to get help to call him, and that he loved me. He never stopped praying for me. I know that's why I am alive and sober today. He was at chapel on a Friday night and had everyone pray for me, and the very next day I called to say that I was ready! "The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much." James 5:16
I first met David at the beginning of his journey towards recovery and a relationship with the Lord. After completing Overcomer’s, I had the privilege of working alongside David as we served the men in Miracle Hill’s transitional housing phase. David has a sincere heart to serve others, and to point them towards Christ. It has been amazing to watch him grow over the past few years, and to watch what the Lord has been doing through David to help others who are struggling. I feel honored to call David a friend and a brother!
The day that I called you so desperate for help for my son was one of the most encouraging days I had in a very long time concerning him. Not only did you help with getting a place for him, but you also helped us find a place for my grandson, his son the same week. It was such a miracle sent to us through you. Because of your diligence in helping us find placement for them that week, they were able to begin a new journey in their life, and my heart was able to begin to mend. Not only did you offer support to our family that week, but your continued communication throughout their time during rehab is such a blessing.
I want to thank you for allowing God to use you as such an important spiritual tool in so many people’s lives. You are such an encouragement to so many people and their families.
